On the 11th of November I had my interview with "N". This interview was different from those previous as this was one I'd be able to do face to face. I was excited about this prospect as I felt it would allow for a much more conversational tone, and a more natural change in topics of discussion. As I wanted the women I interviewed to feel comfortable enough to discuss their realities, having the opportunity to try and reach more out of a subject was something I definitely wanted to try and do! One of the hardships I felt I was facing with the email interviews was how static they were. I didn't want the answers to feel forced or routine, I hoped they were open enough to encourage dialogue.
The interview with N lasted approximately 20minutes. I recorded it on my phone so a transcription of it could be made at a later date. I felt as though I was able to get personal answers with ease through face to face interviewing, and the conversational dialogue allowed for us to cover topics I hadn't with others through email correspondence only. I felt the answers were a lot longer too which could be useful when deciding what I was going to use in my final publication! I wish I could conduct more of the interviews in this manner. I'm interested to see how much of a conversation I can get with seem of the other women via email, and if I feel that works as well as my interview with N.
